Jenny's Wedding

My roommate while I was in graduate school got married in Nashville over the weekend! My Dad catered the rehearsal dinner, our Dad's went to high school together! The wedding ceremony was amazing, the best music ever!! Anthony and I wanted to stand up and worship! Jenny and Blake are an awesome couple! The reception was at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, and it was absolutley beautiful! We enjoyed the weekend with family and friends! Thank-you to "Aunt" Kim for staying with the twins at the hotel during the wedding and reception! Jayne Elizabeth enjoyed the attention all to herself for one night! Best wishes Blake and Jenny!

Sweet cupcakes!!

We spent the weekend in Nashville for a college roommates wedding! We had a good time, and went to an adorable cupcake shop! As you may know, sugar is a special treat in our house, and these boys both loved their cupcakes! It was soooo cute! I think someone mentioned the boys being a cute advertisement, and I agree these pictures make the cupcakes look even better! Johnathan enjoyed the "wedding cake" cupcake, and Joseph enjoyed the "pink lemonade" cupcake! These are SWEET boys...

Check out the website for Gigi's during your next trip to Nashville!

Joseph's Day- June 25th

Dear Joseph:
You are your Mommy and Daddy's daily reminder that we serve a mighty God! Sweet baby, when you were born your esophagus didnt connect to your stomach, that silly thing connected to your trachea! But, dont worry God knew exactly where you needed to be, and who He was going to use to care for you. You were so excited to meet us, that you decided to come two months early! You little stinker, you havent slowed down since! When you arrived you didnt get to stay with Mommy and Daddy. Both you and your twin brother Johnathan had to be taken to the NICU. Baby, you were a sick little boy, who couldnt breathe without help. But let me tell you, this is when our Lord Jesus heard your name loud and clear! Prayers for Joseph and Johnathan Warlick went up in masses! Jesus began His work in you! The next day after your precious 4 lb 3 oz self was born you had your first of several surgeries. Dr Yang, who we know God chose for you, placed a feeding tube in your tummy, so that you could get some of your Mommy's yummy breast milk and grow big! It was so important for you to grow. Dr Yang and Dr Shenai wanted you to be 5 lbs before your big surgery to repair your esophagus! Sweet boy, you were amazing! You never lost an ounce, but Mommy must tell you that you had to fight hard. Baby, there were tough times for you. But- your Mommy and brother Johnathan never left your side. We never came back to Crossville, Mommy told them she would come home when she had two baby boys. Mommy stayed 10-12 hours a day with you at Vanderbilt Childrens, and then after dinner she would take Johnathan back to "Aunt" Kim's house in Nashville, only to wake up and come see you again! I am pretty sure that the doctor's and nurses grew to expect to see all three of us all day. Baby- you just needed extra help. You needed someone to stand there and hold your pacifier, because the tubes all in your mouth kept making your pacifier fall out! Silly pacifier! Oh Joseph, how your Mommy cries thinking about how strong you were while in NICU. Baby- it was a hard and long road. Those beepers and monitors going off all the time. Your biggest problem was all the secretions that would build up in the upper part of your esophagus and throat, would cause you to stop breathing. The amazing nurses would have to run in and suction you, and then you would try and breathe all on your own again. Actually, Mommy and Daddy became pretty good at suctionong you ourselves in the NICU. Your nurses were awesome and we both had our favorites, they cared for you and loved on you so much. You boys had so many people visiting you and praying for you. Grandparents, friends, and strangers would visit, mail, and pray for you both. Also, you would be so proud of Daddy. Daddy drove the 2 hours back and forth every other day to see us. Daddy would drive 2 hours just to make it to your last feeding, and to change your diaper and hold you. He then would turn around and go back to the vet clinic or leave at 4 AM the next morning ( only after he stopped in at the hospital to tell you he loved you, and check on you ). Baby- even during the night when you were sleeping, Mommy and Daddy would call the nurses and check on you when we were up feeding your brother Johnathan. One of the hardest days in our NICU experience was the second week, we brought Johnathan home, but left you there to be healed. Speaking of healing, your big day came on JUNE 25, 2007! Dr Yang came in on a Monday morning and said that this would be the day. You had an awful weekend before that, and your little body was tired of fighting those silly secretions and suction! So, Daddy hurried back to Nashville and made it for your big surgery. Also, Grandpa and Grandma Holmes came to Nashville regularly, and they were there too for the surgery day. They kept Johnathan so that Mommy and Daddy could pray during your surgery. Let me tell you- the news was good!! Dr Yang had plenty of tissue length to repair your esophagus and you made it through!!! Baby you were on the ventilator, had chest tubes, feeding tubes, and IV lines everywhere. But- baby you were healed. Dr Yang still performed a surgery the following week for pyloric stenosis, but you thought that was easy compared to the esophagus! Baby, I am so proud of you. You came home 7 weeks after you were born, and this was before your due date! Joseph- you have had NO complications from your surgery. You are completely caught up to your developmental milestones. You are full of energy and have the cutest smile and personality! I want you to know how much Mommy and Daddy love you, but more than we can love you, Jesus loves you. Jesus used the doctors and nurses to heal you. Baby, you have a big testimony to be such a little boy. May God have the glory for your life, Johnathan's life, and your precious baby sister's life. So, today on June 25, 2009 I am humbled to tears thinking about you. Just remember your verse from the Bible, Psalm 77:14: You are the God who performs miracles, you show your power among the people. Joseph, we love you and are proud to be your parents.

Protecting our babies

Well, I always had the feeling that I should make this blog "private" so that it wouldnt be able to be found on the internet, and only people that we gave persmission would be able to view it. But I never wanted the hassle or to offend anyone. But recently I feel like now is the time to make our family matters more "private." The way it works is that you email me your address, and then your email address allows the page to open. I think you will also need to establish your username and password. I want all of our friends and family to still keep up with our precious family, so please send me your email address if you want to be included! I will change the blog to private next week! Happy Father's Day!

Dear Daddy- Mommy says this is your special day! We cant say it yet but we know for sure that you are the BEST Daddy! We know that you work super long hours, even through breakfast, lunch, and dinner, then oncall many nights and weekends! We have never heard you complain. You just hug and kiss us when you leave, and when you come home! You can do it all Daddy! You are an animal doctor, and super dad! You play with us, change all of our diapers, and feed us! You even gave us a sister this year! Mommy says we are blessed, some Daddy's do not devote all their time away from work to their family, but you are 100% Daddy when you are not at work. Mom is most thankful that you love Jesus, and that you are showing us Jesus too! But Daddy, we want you to know that our favorite time of day is every morning when we wake up and you come get us. We know that you take us downstairs, give us our milk, and we sit in your lap and watch Mickey Mouse until Mommy gets up with our sister. Daddy thank you for loving us, Mommy and our sister! Happy Father's Day Daddy! Love, Joseph and Johnathan

Today was a great day!! I went to church with my favorite men ( minus Uncle Clay because he was at work!)! My Dad came up and went to church with us, while my Mom went to church with her Dad! ( there are so many "dads" it gets confusing!) Anyway, it was a special time for me with my Daddy, and my kids with their Daddy. I thank God for these men everyday, and our Heavenly Father, who makes all this possible.

We took the family to Bark in the Park, sponsored by the vet clinic! Dr. Karen is a huge influence on these events for our community, and we are so thankful that she is a part of the veterinary practice! Lacey and Jubal won first prize for biggest dog! Lori and Zoie won second place for smallest dog! Our dog Velvet didnt win any prize, but she deserves a trophy for being so good!

Guess who is 6 months old??

This precious baby girl!! Happy 6 months Jayne Elizabeth! She is sitting for a few minutes by herself, and had her first taste of rice cereal this week! She is a doll! Her personality is showing, and she is cute as a bug! But, can anyone tell her that she can sleep through the night?! She is still in bed with Mommy and Daddy, and still likes to eat a night time snack every few hours...but she is a happy girl, even at night! We love her!

Aunt Kaydi comes to town

My camera is still not working, but I do have pictures from Anthony's sister's camera! Aunt Kaydi and Drew came to visit us from Indiana( and Aunt Kaydi's dog needed a veterinarian!). It was a fun weekend, filled with a trip to the farm, church, and movie night with Aunt Justina. Kaydi and Drew experienced pregnancy checking cows, and fishing in the pond at the farm. Johnathan and Joseph loved the attention, Aunt Kaydi was sure to make the boys laugh! We look forward to seeing them again in July!

Riverbend Festival

We took the boys to Chattanooga for the Riverbend Festival Faith and Family night! Aunt Justina went with us and we had a great time! Guess what??? Steven Curtis Chapman was performing at 9:30, but that was after our bedtime. However, we did get to see him! He was signing autographs, about three feet from us by his tour RV! I tried to get Joseph to go and give him his testimony, but Joseph just wanted to play with his ball from the Chik-fil-a cow! We had a great time, and Uncle Clay was working there too! The boys were so proud!

Mommy School

Ok, summer is here!! Yay!! With summer we have big plans for the kids! I am super excited to say that this morning I spent 4 hours with JOHNATHAN! Yep, only Johnathan! During the summer since Lacey is out of school also, she is coming each Friday morning and keeping two babies, so that I can take one baby for Mommy and Me time! This morning was the first morning ever that I was able to spend this much one on one time with one of the twins! It was fabulous! I have never had one baby to concentrate on, and I must say I enjoyed it so much today! I felt like Johnathan and I were able to connect, and I could meet his needs, without having to wait on brother OR sister! We went to work to visit, the bookstore, and out to lunch! His little personality is precious, and what a talker he is when his brother isnt around!
Also, we are starting Hubbard's Cupboard two year old curriculum at home! I am going to commit to a daily song, or story based on the theme of the week, and also a weekly craft or activity! I am so excited to have some direction to follow so that I can be more organized, and have greater intent on what the kids are learning. Honestly, I feel like without structure days or even weeks go by and I am so obligated by diapers, laundry and food that the learning, and amount of time I spend in the floor playing with the kids gets neglected. I do not want to miss moments filled with laugther and learning with these babies! However, I need a plan! Hubbard's Cupboard is a FREE resource, with excellent ideas and materials! I really have enjoyed looking through the material, and cant wait to share with the kids! I will keep you updated on our progress, and hold me accountable, OK?! Check out the link on the side to Hubbard's Cupboard! No pictures to share, my new camera battery is in the mail! ENJOY SUMMER WITH YOUR FAMILY! Gotta go sing....it is a zoo theme this week!

Grandma Gail

On Friday we had a great surprise!! Anthony's Mom called and said she would be coming from Indiana and stay the weekend for the boy's party! I love my mother-in-law, so I was very happy! Grandma Gail is so crafty!! She sews, cooks, and decorates fabulous cakes! She even brought pieces of a train cake with her and decorated it Saturday morning! This cake was even more special because Grandma Gail made a cake similar to this for her twin boys when they were young, Daddy and Uncle Rusty! It was adorable! We took it to church, and the boys had a Sunday School party! I hope Jayne Elizabeth is learning alot about the domestic side of life from Grandma Gail!
